I’m alone again
riding the elevator
to the fourteenth floor,
a humming silver coffin
with muzak and bright buttons.

I’m alone again
riding the elevator
to the fourteenth floor,
a humming silver coffin
with muzak and bright buttons.
Blue violins play
melodies in minor keys
for unfortunate
souls bathing in desires
dissolved in downgraded dreams.
Sleeping satellites
drifting through orbits of space—
technological
specks of man’s hubris dotting
the eye of the universe.
Apple trees blossom.
Crows thaw on telephone wires
in sunlight showers.
Ideas of order consume
the backyard awakening.
